Founder, FoundlyAgency
I run a one-person studio that builds websites — and then does the part most web designers stop short of: making the site actually get found, in search engines and increasingly in AI assistants.
What I do
A website has two separate jobs, and most owners only buy the first one. Trust — it argues your case while you sleep. Discovery — without a site, an AI assistant has nothing authoritative to read about you, so it scrapes whatever it can find and hands a prospective customer a wrong answer. You never find out about the sale you lost.
How I work
A problem doesn't exist until you meet it. I ship, hit a real problem, then find the specific answer to that problem — the reverse of learning the theory first, and it's faster.
I run decisions on verified data and log every check, including the failures. I once counted 35 clicks as enquiries — they weren't. I've had a page sit 34 days without a single crawl while the sitemap insisted everything was fine.
Automating a process you haven't validated only makes you fail faster and pay more to do it. Once something works, I hand it to AI on a schedule, and my job changes from doing the work to improving the system that does it.
The one habit that started it
I started with no portfolio, no case studies and no cash flow. Buying attention was off the table — the only two things I had in surplus were effort and responsiveness. So in month one, I built four to five websites free for people around me, and treated every one exactly like paid work: a sub-three-hour turnaround on any request, paid or not.
First paying client came inside a month — several of the people I'd worked for free chose to pay once they saw the finished site. It also started the referral engine that's still my cheapest, highest-converting channel today.
The route here
Sold snacks in a boarding hostel, then stopped selling floor-by-floor myself and found one partner on each floor to sell to at wholesale instead. Distribution scales — personal effort doesn't.
Studied AI and tried to build products with it, while running a direct-selling business on the side — cold approaches, sales, leading a small team. Revenue comes from buyers, not headcount.
Built four to five websites free for friends and family in month one, to earn a portfolio and run the delivery process end to end without a paying client watching. First paid order by the end of that month.
